NORTHLANDERS 11
THE CROSS AND THE HAMMER PART 1

Written by Brian Wood ; Art by Ryan Kelly; Cover by Massimo Carnevale
A new Northlanders epic kicks off here! Taking place during the tail end of Viking rule in Ireland, a series of mysterious murders and arsons against wealthy citizens leaves the Viking occupiers worried that a potential uprising might ignite. When surprising details involving the crimes are revealed, though, their jobs become much harder.

Vertigo|32pg.|Color|$2.99 US|Mature Readers

This is part one of a 6-part story. It's a great jumping-on story for any new readers. This is my first big full-art on a 22-page comic book. Check it out!

Benji, No!

Benji, No!, originally uploaded by funrama.

Here's an inked panel from my new job, Northlanders, which I think comes out next week. I can't draw as well as Davide Gianfelice and I can't invoke the Baroque drama that Dean Ormston does so well , but hopefully I bring something unique and different to the series. This looks more like my work in Lucifer than Local or stuff like that. If you put Lucifer, Giant Robot Warriors and Local next to each other, they all look like they're drawn by different artists. With Northlanders , I've been influenced by Lone Wolf and Cub and Vagabond by Takehiko Inoue, so that sorta shows up in the art. I hope people like it. I have 5 weeks to draw each issue but that's cool because I was sorta trained on doing monthly comics and I like doing the monthly schedule thing. I hope people like it.

FALLCON 2008

There's nothing in this world that makes me happier than FALLCON (well, other than mariachi bands and bunnies whispering tender love songs in each others ears). Fallcon is my favorite show. I've been going there as a kid, and now I get to take my own kids and share with them the mystical wonder of comic books. This show makes me love comics when I feel as though comics doesn't want me to love comics anymore.

I'll have a table selling HUNDREDS of pages of original art, doing custom art commissions, and selling copies of all my books including Giant Robot Warriors, The Local Collection and The New York Four (and HOPEFULLY Comic Book Tattoo if my comps ever come).

COMMISSIONS:
Please come and order a drawing from me. First come first serve. Black, white and Gray or Color. Those cost money.

FOR THOSE OF YOU HAVE ORDERED COMMISSIONS FROM ME THROUGH EMAIL:
Hold on. Everybody knows the drill. I take forever to get to those. Sometimes I take months and months to respond back. I'm up to my neck in work. Everybody who finally gets their drawing is typically very happy with the final product.

Officially Declared...Comic Book Day!...
